How to get involved

There are a number of ways a local authority can get involved in the Local Authority websites national project. There are two levels of involvement, Pilot Authorities and Associate Authorities.

Pilot Authorities

Councils wishing to become pilot authorities will be 'early adopters'. The primary aim of pilot authorities is to use the product before official launch. This will involve:

  • Implementing APLAWS+
  • Using APLAWS+
  • Testing APLAWS+
  • Registering Bugs

Pilot Authorities will have access to technical and business support from the LAWs team and publicity from the National Project.

Associate Authorities

Councils wishing to become an associate authority will be involved in the project from the beginning. These councils will be part of an advisory group, meeting twice a quarter, to advise the project on a number of technical and business issues.

The main aim of the advisory group will be to advise on:

  • Technical solutions
  • Look and feel of the product
  • Transactional elements
  • Organisational issues

In addition associate authorities will be able to run the APLAWS+ product (either as a whole or certain sections) before the official launch date. Associate authorities may also become pilot authorities.

If you want to be involved in the development of APLAWS+ as a pilot authority or an associate authority, or require further information please contact the LAWs Project Office.
